Lafayette Physical Rehabilitation Hospital’s Spinal Cord Injury Program is dedicated to handling many levels of spinal cord injuries. The spinal cord is a conduit along which nerves transmit information between the brain and the rest of the body. When the spinal cord suffers an injury, it may impair movement and sensation, resulting in the inability to walk or utilize their arms. Additionally, bowel and bladder control, sexual function, and breathing also may be affected. With any spinal cord injury patient, our objective is to help patients develop skills and strategies for living life.
